Monday, August 3, 37 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 9167 persons have been stopped this year.

Officials of the State Border Guard detected 25 offenders at external borders and within the country. 10 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • 1 wanted person – a Latvian citizen was detained 

at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point, during passengers profiling, one Latvian citizen entered from Netherlands, who is wanted by the police, was detected. The person was detained and handed over to officials of the State Police.

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 1 foreigner 

at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Great Britain, as the foreigner was not in possession of valid travel document. The person was returned to the country of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 4 foreigners

one citizen of China, one – of Ukraine, one – of Kazakhstan and one - of South Africa were detected at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit). Record-keeping regarding the administrative violation, committed by the citizen of China and the citizen of South Africa was not initiated. The other persons were subjected to administrative liability.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 7 persons – three citizens of Latvia, two – of Egypt, one – of Japan and one – of Nigeria. 

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 8 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – two citizens of Belarus, one – of Latvia, one – of France, one - of Moldova, one – of Portuguese, one – of Uzbekistan and one – of Germany.
