On Friday, August 29, 9 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 9145 persons have been stopped this year.
A total 15 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.
Officials of the State Border Guard detected 52 offenders at external borders and within the country. 29 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:
- entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 17 foreigners
at the Grebņeva, the Terehova and the Pāternieki Border Control Points entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Russia and one – of Kazakhstan, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit; to two citizens of Russia and one – of Ukraine, as the foreigners were prohibited from entering and staying in the territory of the Schengen area countries; to 10 citizens of Russia, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid travel document; as well as entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Ukraine and one – of Moldova due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.
- conditions of residence were violated by 8 foreigners
seven citizens of Russia and one - of Uzbekistan were detected at the Terehova, the Pāternieki, the Grebņeva and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points, for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit, were not in possession of valid travel document). The persons were subjected to administrative liability.
While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 5 persons – two citizens of Lithuania, one – of Estonia, one – of Sudan, and one - of Ukraine.
Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 18 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – three citizens of Latvia, three - of Belarus, three – of Moldova, two – of Russia, two – of Estonia, two – of Lithuania, one – of Kyrgyzstan, one – of Romania and one – of Serbia.
