On Thursday, August 28, 59 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 9136 persons have been stopped this year.
A total 15 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.
Officials of the State Border Guard detected 49 offenders at external borders and within the country. 19 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:
- 1 citizen of Latvia wanted by the Police was detected
At the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point, one citizen of Georgia entering Latvia, who is wanted by the Police, was detected. The person was detained and handed over to officials of the State Police.
- entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 10 foreigners
at the Grebņeva, the Pāternieki and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Moldova and one – of Tajikistan, as the foreigners could not justify the purpose and conditions of their entry and stay; to one citizen of India, as the foreigner was not in possession of valid visa or residence permit; to one citizen of Russia, as the foreigner was not in possession of valid travel document; as well as entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to three citizens of Ukraine, two – of Moldova and one – of Russia due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.
- conditions of residence were violated by 6 foreigners
four citizens of Uzbekistan, one – of Kyrgyzstan and one – of Kazakhstan were detected at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point, for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit, exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa). The persons were subjected to administrative liability.
- exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to 1 citizen of Latvia
at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point, one minor citizens of Latvia, departing for Georgia, who did not have the other parent's (a citizen of EU) notarized consent for the child's departure from the country, was detected. The person was banned from leaving the country.
While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 6 persons – three citizens of Uzbekistan, one – of Kyrgyzstan, one – of Lebanon and one – of Great Britain.
Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 24 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – seven citizens of Moldova, four – of Russia, three - of Belarus, two – of Germany, one - of Latvia, one – of Estonia, one – of Azerbaijan, one – of Kazakhstan, one – of Romania, one – of Turkey, one – of Ukraine and one – of China.
