Wednesday, August 26, 3 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 10165 persons have been stopped this year.

Officials of the State Border Guard detected 32 offenders at external borders and within the country. 15 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • 1 foreigner with documents of another person was detected

During immigration control at the “Riga” Airport Border Control Point, a citizen of Egypt was detected presenting a Spanish Identity Card belonging to another person. Criminal proceedings were initiated for concealing one’s identity.

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 6 foreigners 

at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to two citizens of Uzbekistan, as the foreigners could not justify the purpose and conditions of entry and stay; to one citizen of Uganda, as the foreigner was not in possession of valid visa or residence permit; as well as to one citizen of Belarus, one – of Ukraine and one – of Russia due to security reasonsThe persons were returned to the countries of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 5 foreigners

two citizens of Tajikistan, two – of Uzbekistan and one – of Canada were detected at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit, exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa, exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa-free regime). Record-keeping regarding the administrative violation, committed by one citizen of Tajikistan was not initiated. The other persons were subjected to administrative liability.

  • exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to 1 citizen of Latvia

    at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point, one citizen of Latvia departing for Turkey, who did not have the notarised consent of at least one parent for the child’s independent departure from the country, was detected. The person was banned from leaving the country.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 4 persons – one citizen of Russia, one – of Lithuania, one – of India and one - of Kazakhstan. 

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 13 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – two citizens of Latvia, two – of Moldova, two – of Serbia, two – of Germany, one – of Russia, one - of Belarus, one – of Georgia, one – of Uzbekistan and one – of Sweden.
