On Tuesday, August 26, 15 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 9051 persons have been stopped this year.
A total 15 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.
Officials of the State Border Guard detected 49 offenders at external borders and within the country. 13 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:
- 1 citizen of Latvia wanted by the Police was detected
At the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point, one citizen of Latvia entered Latvia from Great Britain, who is wanted by the Police, was detected. The person was detained and handed over to officials of the State Police.
- entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 6 foreigners
at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Ukraine, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid travel document; while at the Terehova and the Pāternieki Border Control Points entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to two citizens of Moldova, two – of Russia and one – of Romania due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.
- conditions of residence were violated by 2 foreigners
two citizens of Kyrgyzstan were detected at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point, for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa). The persons were subjected to administrative liability.
- exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to 1 citizen of Latvia
at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point, one citizen of Latvia, departing for Turkey, whose travel document was not valid to travel to Turkey, was detected. The person was banned from leaving the country.
While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 17 persons – three citizens of Uzbekistan, two - of Latvia, two – of Russia, two – of Estonia, two – of Morocco, two – of Turkey, one – of Belarus, one – of Lithuania, one – of India and one – of Ukraine.
Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 19 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – three citizens of Belarus, two – of Latvia, two - of Moldova, one – of Russia, one – of Lithuania, one – of Azerbaijan, one – of Belgium, one – of France, one – of Israel, one – of Great Britain, one – of Malaysia, one – of Netherlands, one – of Romania, one – of Serbia and one – of Germany.
