On Saturday, August 23, 28 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 9002 persons have been stopped this year.
A total 15 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.
Officials of the State Border Guard detected 53 offenders at external borders and within the country. 25 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:
- entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 14 foreigners
at the Terehova, the Grebņeva, the Pāternieki and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Pakistan, as the foreigner was not in possession of valid visa or residence permit; to five citizens of Russia, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid travel document; as well as entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to four citizens of Belarus, three – of Russia and one – of Moldova
due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.
- conditions of residence were violated by 7 foreigners
seven citizens of Russia were detected at the Terehova, the Pāternieki and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points, for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (were not in possession of valid travel document, were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit). Record-keeping regarding the administrative violation committed by one citizen of Russia, was not initiated. The other persons were subjected to administrative liability.
While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 4 persons – two citizens of Estonia, one – of Lithuania and one – of Somali.
Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 24 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – six citizens of Belarus, five – of Ukraine, two – of Russia, two – of Lithuania, two - of Moldova, two – of Serbia, one – of Latvia, one – of Estonia, one – of Kyrgyzstan, one – of Poland and one – of Uzbekistan.
