On Wednesday, August 20, 62 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 8854 persons have been stopped this year.
A total 15 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.
Officials of the State Border Guard detected 56 offenders at external borders and within the country. 27 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:
- entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 17 foreigners
at the Terehova, the Grebņeva, the Pāternieki and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to three citizens of Russia, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid travel document, to one citizen of Kazakhstan and one – of Russia, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit; to one citizen of Uzbekistan, as the foreigner could not justify the purpose and conditions of his entry and stay; as well as to four citizens of Moldova, two – of Russia, one – of Germany, one – of Ukraine, one – of Belarus and one – of Kazakhstan due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.
- conditions of residence were violated by 6 foreigners
three citizens of Russia, one – of Kyrgyzstan, one – of Afghanistan and one – of Uzbekistan were detected at the Grebņeva, the Terehova, the Pāternieki and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points, for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (were not in possession of valid travel document, were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit). The persons were subjected to administrative liability.
While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 8 persons – three citizens of India, two – of Uzbekistan, one - of Latvia, one – of Estonia and one – of Turkey.
Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 21 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – seven citizens of Belarus, two – of Latvia, two – of Russia, two – of Kyrgyzstan, two – of Uzbekistan, one - of Lithuania, one – of Belgium, one – of Kazakhstan, one - of Moldova, one – of Romania and one – of Germany.
