On Saturday, August 2, 44 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 8070 persons have been stopped this year.

A total 15 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.

Officials of the State Border Guard detected 58 offenders at external borders and within the country. 24 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • 5 foreigners with forged documents or documents of other persons were detected

At the Pāternieki Border Control Point, one citizen of German leaving Latvia, who presented to border guards a forged vehicle registration certificate, was detected. The forged document was seized. While, during immigration control at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point, two citizens of Cameroon, who presented to border guards French ID cards of other persons, were detected. Likewise, at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point, while verifying previously received information, one citizen of Afghanistan, who presented to border guards a passport of a French citizen, and one citizen of Iran, who presented to border guards a passport of an Albanian citizen, were detected. The persons were held administratively liable.

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 7 foreigners

at the Terehova and the Pāternieki Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to five citizens of Russia, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid travel document; while at the Grebņeva Border Control Point, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Moldova and one – of Bulgaria due to security reasons. The persons were returned to countries of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 9 foreigners

seven citizens of Russia, one – of Azerbaijan and one – of Kazakhstan were detected at the Grebņeva, the Terehova, the Pāternieki and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points, for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (were not in possession of valid travel document, were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit, exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa). Record-keeping regarding the administrative violation committed by three citizens of Russia and one – of Azerbaijan was not initiated. The other persons were subjected to administrative liability.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 11 persons -  four citizens of Estonia, three – of Egypt, two – of Morocco and two of Algeria. 

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 23 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – four citizens of Latvia, four – of Moldova, three – of Russia, three - of Belarus, one – of Estonia, one – of Belgium, one – of Bulgaria, one – of France, one – of Kazakhstan, one – of Kyrgyzstan, one – of Great Britain, one – of Ukraine and one – of Germany.
