On Sunday, August 17, 74 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 8649 persons have been stopped this year.
A total 15 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.
Officials of the State Border Guard detected 51 offenders at external borders and within the country. 20 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:
- 1 foreigner with forged documents was detected
at the Grebņeva Border Control Point, a citizen of Uzbekistan departing from Latvia, who presented to border guards a forged Uzbekistan Roadworthiness Certificate, was detected. The person was held administratively liable.
- entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 4 foreigners
at the “Riga” Airport Border Control Point entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to two citizens of Uzbekistan, as the foreigners could not justify the purpose and conditions of their entry and stay; at the Terehova Border Control Point entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Russia, as the foreigner was not in possession of valid visa or residence permit; at the Pāternieki Border Control Point entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Moldova due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.
- conditions of residence were violated by 8 foreigners
five citizens of Russia, two – of Moldova and one – of Uzbekistan were detected at the Grebņeva and the Pāternieki Border Control Points, for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (were not in possession of valid travel document, were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit). Record-keeping regarding the administrative violation committed by four citizens of Russia and two – of Moldova, was not initiated. The other persons were subjected to administrative liability.
- exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to 1 citizen of Latvia
at „Riga” Airport Border Control Point, one citizen of Latvia (female) departing for Montenegro, who was not in possession of valid travel document, was detected. The person was banned from leaving the country.
While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 6 persons – two citizens of Estonia, one – of Latvia, one – of Lithuania, one – of Algeria and one – of Pakistan.
Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 25 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – nine citizens of Belarus, seven– of Moldova, three – of Russia, one – of Estonia, one - of Lithuania, one – of Georgia, one – of Great Britain, one – of Macedonia and one – of Uzbekistan.
