On Saturday, August 16, 43 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 8575 persons have been stopped this year.

A total 15 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.

Officials of the State Border Guard detected 55 offenders at external borders and within the country. 17 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • 1 citizen of Latvia with forged documents was detected

during immigration control at the “Riga” Airport Border Control Point, a Comorian citizen departing from Latvia, who presented an Identity Card of some French citizen, was detected. Criminal proceeding were initiated for concealing his true identity.

  • 1 wanted person – a citizen of Latvia was detained

during immigration control at the “Riga” Airport Border Control Point, one Latvian citizen (female) entering the country, who is wanted by the police, was detected. The person was detained and handed over to officials of the State Police.

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 9 foreigners

at the Terehova, the Grebņeva, the Pāternieki and the “Riga” Airport Border Control Points entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to four citizens of Russia and two – of Ukraine, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid travel document; as well as entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to two citizens of Russia and one – of Ukraine due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 3 foreigners

three citizens of Russia were detected at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point, for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (were not in possession of valid travel document, were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit). Record-keeping regarding the administrative violation committed by one citizen of Russia, was not initiated. The other persons were subjected to administrative liability.

  • exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to 1 citizen of Latvia

at „Riga” Airport Border Control Point, one minor citizen of Latvia (female) departing for Montenegro, who did not have the notarized consent of at least one parent for the child's independent departure from the country, was detected. The person was banned from leaving the country.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 11 persons – four citizens of Lithuania, two – of India, one – of Latvia, one – of Estonia, one – of Senegal, one – of Uganda and one - of Uzbekistan.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 27 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – seven citizens of Belarus, four – of Moldova, three – of Tunis, three – of Ukraine, two – of Latvia, two – of Kazakhstan, one – of Estonia, one - of Lithuania, one – of Kyrgyzstan, one – of Serbia, one – of Uzbekistan and one – of China.
