Saturday, August 15, 30 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 9778 persons have been stopped this year.
Officials of the State Border Guard detected 40 offenders at external borders and within the country. 25 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:
•    1 citizen of Latvia with forged documents was detected
while carrying out immigration control at the Port of Ventspils, one citizen of Latvia, who presented to border guards a forged Lithuanian Driving Licence, was detected. Criminal proceedings were initiated for using forged documents, the forged document was seized.
•    entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 6 foreigners
at the Grebņeva, the Terehova and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Uzbekistan and one – of Ukraine, as the foreigners could not justify the purpose and conditions of entry and stay; to one citizen of China, as the foreigner was not in possession of valid visa or residence permit; as well as to one citizen of Germany, one – of Russia and one – of Netherland due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.
•    conditions of residence were violated by 13 foreigners
five citizens of Moldova, four – of Uzbekistan, two - of Russia, one - of Great Britain and one – of Kazakhstan were detected at the Grebņeva, the Terehova and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit, exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa, exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa-free regime). The persons were subjected to administrative liability.
•    exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to 3 citizens of Latvia

at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point, one non-citizen of Latvia (female) departing for Turkey, who was not in possession of valid travel document, one minor citizen of Latvia departing for Turkey, who did not have a notarized authorization from at least one parent to leave the country, as well as one minor citizen of Latvia departing for Turkey, who did not have a notarized authorization from the other parent (an EU citizen) for the child to leave the country, were detected. The persons were banned from leaving the country.
While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 4 persons – three citizens of Estonia and one – of Somalia. 
Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 11 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – three citizens of Latvia, two – of Moldova, one - of Belarus, one – of Kazakhstan, one – of Finland, one – of Tajikistan, one – of Uzbekistan and one – of the Czech Republic.
