On Friday, August 15, 42 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 8532 persons have been stopped this year.
A total 15 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.
Officials of the State Border Guard detected 67 offenders at external borders and within the country. 41 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:
- 1 foreigner with forged documents was detected
At the Terehova Border Control Point, one citizen of Georgia entered Latvia with a goods vehicle and a trailer, who presented to border guards a forged Georgian technical inspection certificate, was detected. The person was held administratively liable.
- entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 15 foreigners
at the Terehova, the Grebņeva an the Pāternieki Border Control Points entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to three citizens of Russia, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid travel document; to one citizen of Russia, as the foreigner was not in possession of valid visa or residence permit; to two citizens of Moldova, as the foreigners were prohibited from entering and residing in the territory of the Schengen Area countries; as well as entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to four citizens of Russia, two – of Moldova, two – of Germany and one – of Bulgaria due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.
- conditions of residence were violated by 10 foreigners
seven citizens of Russia, two – of Uzbekistan and one – of Tajikistan were detected at the Terehova, the Grebņeva, the Pāternieki and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points, for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (were not in possession of valid travel document, were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit, exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa). Record-keeping regarding the administrative violation committed by the citizens of Russia, was not initiated. The other persons were subjected to administrative liability.
- exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to 2 citizens of Latvia
at „Riga” Airport Border Control Point, one citizen of Latvia departing for Great Britain and one – for Ireland, who were not in possession of valid travel document, were detected. The persons were banned from leaving the country.
While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 6 persons – two citizens of India, one – of Russia, one – of Estonia, one – of Lithuania and one - of Syria.
Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 20 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – six citizens of Belarus, four – of Lithuania, three - of Moldova, one – of Latvia, one – of Israel, one – of Romania, one – of Spain, one – of Tajikistan, one – of Ukraine and one – of Germany.
