On Wednesday, August 13, 24 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 8422 persons have been stopped this year. 

A total 15 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.

Officials of the State Border Guard detected 65 offenders at external borders and within the country. 38 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • 1 wanted citizen of Latvia was detained

At the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point, one citizen of Latvia entered Latvia from Great Britain, who is wanted by the Police, was detected. The person was detained and handed over to officials of the State Police.

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 13 foreigners

at the Grebņeva, the Terehova, the Pāternieki and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to two citizens of Russia, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid travel document; to two citizens of Uzbekistan, as the foreigners could not justify the purposes and conditions of entry and stay; to one citizen of Tajikistan and one – of Belarus, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit; as well as to two citizens of Ukraine, one – of Russia, one – of Belarus and one – of Germany due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 10 foreigners

five citizens of Russia, two – of Uzbekistan, one – of Belarus, one – India and one – of Kazakhstan were detected at the Grebņeva, the Pāternieki and the „Riga” Airport the Border Control Points, for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (were not in possession of valid travel document, were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit, exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa). Record-keeping regarding the administrative violation committed by citizens of Russia, of Uzbekistan and one – of India was not initiated. The other persons were subjected to administrative liability.

  • exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to 2 citizens of Latvia

at the Pāternieki Border Control Point, two minor citizens of Latvia departing for Belarus, who did not have a notarized power of attorney from the other parent (EU citizen) for the child to leave the country, were detected. The persons were banned from leaving the country.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 4 persons – two citizens of Ukraine, one – of Latvia and one - of Estonia.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 23 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – five citizens of Belarus, three - of Moldova, two – of Tajikistan, two – of Ukraine, one – of Latvia, one – of Russia, one - of Estonia, one – of Lithuania, one – of Georgia, one - of Kazakhstan, one – of Kyrgyzstan, one – of Poland, one – of Serbia, one – of Uzbekistan and one – of Germany.
