On Tuesday, August 12, 16 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 8398 persons have been stopped this year.

A total 15 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.

Officials of the State Border Guard detected 48 offenders at external borders and within the country. 20 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • 2 foreigners with documents of other persons were detected

at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point, one citizen of Mali and one – of Comoros, who presented to border guards passports of other French citizens, were detected. The persons were held administratively liable.

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 9 foreigners

at the Grebņeva, the Terehova, the Pāternieki and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Russia, as the foreigner was not in possession of valid travel document; to one citizen of Uzbekistan, as the foreigner could not justify the purposes and conditions of entry and stay; to one citizen of Russia and one – of Azerbaijan, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit; to two citizens of Colombia, as the foreigners have already stayed for 90 days in the territory of the Schengen area countries in the preceding 180 days; as well as to one citizen of Russia, one – of Moldova and one – of Kazakhstan due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 7 foreigners

six citizens of Russia and one – of Belarus were detected at the Terehova, the Pāternieki and the „Riga” Airport the Border Control Points, for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (were not in possession of valid travel document, were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit, exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa). Record-keeping regarding the administrative violation committed by three citizens of Russia and one – of Georgia was not initiated. The other persons were subjected to administrative liability.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 14 persons – five citizens of Lithuania, three – of Latvia, two – of Estonia, one – of Algeria, one – of Great Britain, one - of Morocco and one – of Syria.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 14 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – four citizens of Moldova, three – of Belarus, one - of Lithuania, one – of Kazakhstan, one – of Kyrgyzstan, one – of Romania, one – of Tajikistan, one – of Ukraine and one – of Uzbekistan.
