Tuesday, August 11, 88 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 9609 persons have been stopped this year.

Officials of the State Border Guard detected 29 offenders at external borders and within the country. 17 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 3 foreigners 

at the Pāternieki, the Terehova and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to two citizens of Russia and one – of Moldova due to security reasonsThe persons were returned to the countries of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 9 foreigners

five citizens of India, one - of Russia, one – of Moldova, one – of Tajikistan and one - of Kyrgyzstan were detected at the Terehova and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit, exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa, were not in possession of valid travel document, exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa-free regime). Record-keeping regarding the administrative violation, committed by the citizens of India was not initiated. The other persons were subjected to administrative liability.

  • exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to 2 citizens of Latvia

    at the Pāternieki Border Control Point, one minor citizen of Latvia (female) departing for Belarus, who did not have parent's notarized consent for the child to leave the country, was detected; while at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point one citizen of Latvia (female) departing for Cyprus, who was not in possession of valid travel document, was detected. The persons were banned from leaving the country.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 5 persons – one citizen of Russia, one – of Belarus, one – of Lithuania, one – of Tajikistan and one – of Uzbekistan.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 7 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – two citizens of Latvia, one – of Estonia, one – of Lithuania, one – of Moldova, one – of Serbia and one – of Ukraine.
