On Friday, August 1, 31 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 8026 persons have been stopped this year.

A total 15 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.

Officials of the State Border Guard detected 66 offenders at external borders and within the country. 39 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 17 foreigners

at the Terehova, the Grebņeva, the Pāternieki and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to two citizens of Russia, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit; to one citizen of Uzbekistan, one – of Turkmenistan and one – of Kazakhstan, as the foreigners could not justify the purposes and conditions of entry and stay; to four citizens of Russia, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid travel document; as well as to four citizens of Moldova, three – of Germany and one – of Ukraine due to security reasons. The persons were returned to countries of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 12 foreigners

10 citizens of Russia and two – of Kyrgyzstan were detected at the Grebņeva, the Terehova and the Pāternieki Border Control Points, for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (were not in possession of valid travel document, were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit, exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa). Record-keeping regarding the administrative violation committed by two citizens of Russia was not initiated. The other persons were subjected to administrative liability.

  • exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to 1 citizen of Latvia

at the Pāternieki Border Control Point, one citizen of Latvia leaving the country for Belarus, who did not have a notarized power of attorney from the other parent for the child to leave the country, was detected. The person was banned from leaving the country.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 6 persons -  three citizens of Estonia, one - of Russia, one – of Belarus and one of Tajikistan. 

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 21 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – four citizens of Belarus, four - of Latvia, two – of Russia, two – of Great Britain, two – of Germany, one – of Lithuania, one – of Belgium, one – of Kazakhstan, one – of Moldova, one – of Norway, one – of Ukraine and one – of Uzbekistan.
