On Monday, April 8, 15 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 989 persons have been stopped this year.

Due to humanitarian reasons, 0 persons were not banned from crossing the state border during the past 24 hours; a total 7 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.

Officials of the State Border Guard detected 50 offenders at external borders and within the country. 

20 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 8 foreigners

at the Terehova and the Grebņeva Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to four citizens of Tajikistan, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid visas or residence permits; to one citizen of Moldova and one – of Ukraine due to security reasons. While at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Uzbekistan and one – of Kirgizstan, as the foreigners could not justify the purpose and conditions of their entry and stay. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 6 foreigners

two citizens of Uzbekistan, one – of Georgia, one - of Tajikistan, one – of Belarus and one – of Moldova were detected at the Terehova, the Pāternieki and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (were not in possession of valid visas or residence permits, exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa, exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa-free regime). The persons were subjected to administrative liability.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 23 persons – 16 citizens of India, two - of Nepal, one – of Latvia, one – of Russia, one - of Pakistan, one – of Sudan and one – of Uzbekistan.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 7 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – three citizens of Belarus, three – of Moldova and one – of Latvia.
