On Saturday, April 6, 44 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 927 persons have been stopped this year.

Due to humanitarian reasons, 0 persons were not banned from crossing the state border during the past 24 hours; a total 7 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.

Officials of the State Border Guard detected 42 offenders at external borders and within the country. 

12 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 4 foreigners

at Terehova Border Control Point, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Moldova, as the foreigner was banned from entry into the territory of the Schengen States, to one citizen of Moldova, as the foreigner could not justify the purpose and conditions of his entry and stay; at Grebņeva Border Control Point, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Russia, as the foreigner was not in possession of valid visa or residence permit; while at the Pāternieki Border Control Point, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Russia due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.

  •      exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to 1 citizen of Latvia

at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point, one citizen of Latvia (female), departing for Great Britain without valid for travelling to Great Britain documents, was detected. The person was banned from leaving the country.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 6 persons – three citizens of Estonia, one – of Lithuania, one – of Ukraine and one – of Uzbekistan.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 24 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – 10 citizens of Belarus, three – of Estonia, two – of Moldova, two – of Latvia, one – of Lithuania, one – of Kirgizstan, one – of Serbia, one – of Tajikistan, one – of Ukraine, one – of Uzbekistan and one – of the Czech Republic.
