On Thursday, April 4, 19 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 883 persons have been stopped this year.

Due to humanitarian reasons, 0 persons were not banned from crossing the state border during the past 24 hours; a total 7 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.

Officials of the State Border Guard detected 57 offenders at external borders and within the country. 

31 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • 1 foreigner with forged documents was detected

At the Pāternieki Border Control Point, one citizen of Latvia leaving the country, who presented to border guards a forged Ukrainian driving licence, was detected. Criminal proceedings were initiated for using forged documents. The forged document was seized within the criminal proceedings.

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 16 foreigners

at Terehova, the Grebņeva and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Kazakhstan, as the foreigner was not in possession of valid visa or residence permit; to one citizen of Ukraine, to six – of Moldova and four - of Georgia, as the foreigners could not justify the purpose and conditions of their entry and stay; to one citizen of Russia and two - of Moldova, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid travel document; as well as to one citizen of Ukraine, as the foreigner has already stayed for 90 days in the territory of the Schengen Member States in the previous 180 days. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 5 foreigners

two citizens of Belarus, one – of Uzbekistan, one – of Moldova and one – of Tajikistan were detected at the Grebņeva, the Pāternieki and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (were not in possession of valid visas or residence permits, exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa, exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa-free regime). The persons were subjected to administrative liability.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 10 persons -  four citizens of Ukraine, four – of Latvia, two - of Russia.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 16 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – seven citizens of Belarus, three – of Moldova, two – of Latvia, one – of Russia, one - of Lithuania, one – of Netherlands and one – of Poland.
