Thursday, April 30, 123 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 2022 persons have been stopped this year.

Officials of the State Border Guard detected 22 offenders at external borders and within the country. 11 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • 1 foreigner with documents of another person was detected

at the Port of Ventspils, during immigration control of passengers departing to Sweden by ferry, one citizen of Sudan, who presented to border guards a passport of another citizen of Greece, was detected. Criminal proceedings were initiated for concealing one’s identity. The forged document was seized within the framework of the criminal proceedings.

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 5 foreigners

at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to two citizens of Nigeria and one – of Uzbekistan, as the foreigners could not justify the purpose and conditions of entry and stay; while at the Grebņeva Border Control Point, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Germany and one – of Belarus due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 1 foreigner

one citizen of Uzbekistan was detected at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (was not in possession of valid visa or residence permit). The person was subjected to administrative liability.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for one citizen of Ukraine.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 10 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – two citizens of Latvia, two – of Belarus, two – of Moldova, one – of Azerbaijan, one – of Kyrgyzstan, one – of Romania and one – of Uzbekistan.
