On Tuesday, April 30, 37 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 1595 persons have been stopped this year.

Due to humanitarian reasons, 0 persons were not banned from crossing the state border during the past 24 hours; a total 8 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.

Officials of the State Border Guard detected 46 offenders at external borders and within the country. 

14 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 10 foreigners

at the Terehova, the Grebņeva, the Pāternieki and the Riga airport Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Belarus, as the foreigner was banned from entry into the territory of the Schengen States; to one citizen of Moldova, as the foreigner was not in possession of valid travel document; to one citizen of Uzbekistan, as the foreigner was not in possession of valid visa or residence permit; and entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to two citizens of Russia, four – of Ukraine and one – of Belarus due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 1 foreigner

one citizen of Belarus was detected at the Pāternieki Border Control Point for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (was not in possession of valid visa or residence permit. The person was subjected to administrative liability.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for one citizen of India.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 31 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – 17 citizens of Belarus, two – of Russia, two – of Lithuania, two – of Kazakhstan, two – of Uzbekistan, one – of Latvia, one – of Italy, one – of Israel, one – of Moldova, one – of Romania and one – of Tajikistan.
