On Wednesday, April 3, 26 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 864 persons have been stopped this year.

Due to humanitarian reasons, 0 persons were not banned from crossing the state border during the past 24 hours; a total 7 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.

Officials of the State Border Guard detected 44 offenders at external borders and within the country. 

13 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • 1 foreigner with forged documents was detected

At the Pāternieki Border Control Point, one citizen of Uzbekistan entered Latvia with lorry and trailer, who presented to border guards a forged Uzbekistan roadworthiness test certificates, was detected. Criminal proceedings were initiated for using forged documents. The person was subjected to administrative liability, the forged documents were seized.

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 4 foreigners

at Terehova Border Control Point, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Russia, as the foreigner was not in possession of valid visa or residence permit; while at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Georgia, as the foreigner could not justify the purpose and conditions of his entry and stay; to one citizen of Moldova, as the foreigner has already stayed for 90 days in the territory of the Schengen Member States in the previous 180 days; as well as entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Ukraine due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 6 foreigners

one citizen of Kirgizstan, one – of Kazakhstan and four – of Uzbekistan were detected at the Grebņeva and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (were not in possession of valid visas or residence permits, exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa). Record-keeping regarding the administrative violation, committed by one citizen of Uzbekistan and one – of Kirgizstan was not initiated, the other persons were subjected to administrative liability.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 4 persons -  three citizens of Russia and one - of Estonia.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 11 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – five citizens of Belarus, two – of Latvia, one – of Lithuania, one - of Kazakhstan, one – of Kirgizstan and one – of Ukraine.
