On Saturday, April 27, 72 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 1489 persons have been stopped this year.

Due to humanitarian reasons, 0 persons were not banned from crossing the state border during the past 24 hours; a total 8 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.

Officials of the State Border Guard detected 33 offenders at external borders and within the country. 

13 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • 1 foreigner with forged documents was detected

At the Pāternieki Border Control Point, one citizen of Belarus (female) leaving Latvia, who presented to border guards a forged Belarus vehicle roadworthiness certificate, was detected. Criminal proceedings were initiated for using forged documents. The forged document was seized.

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 4 foreigners

at the Terehova and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Ukraine, as the foreigner could not justify the purpose and conditions of his entry and stay; to two citizens of Russia, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit; as well as entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Ukraine due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 2 foreigners

one citizen of Uzbekistan and one – of Belarus were detected at the Grebņeva and the Pāternieki Border Control Points for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (not in possession of valid visa or residence permit, exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa, exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa-free regime). The persons were subjected to administrative liability.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for one citizen of Estonia.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 19 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – five citizens of Belarus, three – of Kazakhstan, three - of Moldova, one – of Latvia, one – of Russia, one – of Azerbaijan, one – of Norway, one – of Serbia, one – of Ukraine, one – of Uzbekistan and one – Czech Republic.
