Sunday, April 26, 26 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 1798 persons have been stopped this year.
Officials of the State Border Guard detected 28 offenders at external borders and within the country. 12 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:
- 4 foreigners with documents of other persons were detected
at the Port of Liepaja, during immigration control of passengers departing to Sweden by ferry, three citizens of Somalia, who presented to border guards the passports and identity cards of other citizens of Sweden, were detected. While, at the Riga Airport Border Control Point, during the inspection of passenger lists for arrivals from Turkey, one citizen of Iran, who presented a British citizen’s passport of another person, was detected. Criminal proceedings have been initiated for concealing one’s identity.
- entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 5 foreigners
at the Terehova and the Pāternieki Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Kazakhstan, as the foreigner was not in possession of valid visa or residence permit; to one citizen of Russia, to one – of Germany, to one – of Lithuania and one – of Kazakhstan due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.
- conditions of residence were violated by 2 foreigners
two citizens of Turkey were detected at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa). Record-keeping regarding the administrative violation committed by the citizens of Turkey was not initiated, the other persons were subjected to administrative liability.
While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for three persons – two citizens of Egypt and one – of Lithuania.
Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 13 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – six citizens of Belarus, three - of Latvia, one - of Russia, one – of Lithuania, one – of Kazakhstan and one – of Uzbekistan.
