On Friday, April 26, 5 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 1417 persons have been stopped this year.

Due to humanitarian reasons, 0 persons were not banned from crossing the state border during the past 24 hours; a total 8 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.

Officials of the State Border Guard detected 42 offenders at external borders and within the country. 

22 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • 1 foreigner with forged documents was detected

During immigration control within the country, one Latvian citizen was detected at the Svente-Lithuanian border (P70 road), who presented to border guards a forged Poland driving licence, was detected. Criminal proceedings were initiated for use of forged documents. The forged document was seized.

  • 1 wanted citizen of Latvia was detained

At the Port of Ventspils, when checking passenger list, one citizen of Latvia entered from Sweden, who is wanted by the Police, was detected. The person was detained and handed over to officials of the State Police.

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 5 foreigners

at the Grebņeva and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to two citizens of Tajikistan and one – of Moldova, as the foreigners could not justify the purpose and conditions of their entry and stay; to one citizen of Georgia, as the foreigner was banned from entry into the territory of the Schengen States; as well as entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Russia due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 4 foreigners

one citizen of Moldova, one – of USA and two – of Uzbekistan were detected at the Terehova and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (not in possession of valid visa or residence permit, exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa, exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa-free regime). The persons were subjected to administrative liability.

  • exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to 1 citizen of Latvia

at the Pāternieki Border Control Point one minor citizen of Latvia, leaving the country, who did not have the notarized authority of the second parent to leave the country, was detected. The person was banned from leaving the country.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 4 persons – two citizens of Lithuania, one – of Belarus and one - of Ukraine.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 16 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – five citizens of Belarus, two – of Russia, two – of Kyrgyzstan, two – of Moldova,

two –of Uzbekistan, one - of Latvia, one – of USA and one – of Denmark.
