On Friday, April 25, 45 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 1734 persons have been stopped this year.
A total 8 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.
Officials of the State Border Guard detected 43 offenders at external borders and within the country. 21 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:
- 1 wanted person – citizen of Latvia was detained
At the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point, one Latvian citizen entered from Great Britain, who is wanted by the police, was detected. The person was detained and handed over to officials of the State Police.
- entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 9 foreigners
at the Terehova and the Grebņeva Border Control Points entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to two citizens of China, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit; as well as entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to five citizens of Moldova, one – of Greece and one – of Russia due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.
- conditions of residence were violated by 5 foreigners
three citizens of Uzbekistan, one – of Russia and one - of Tajikistan were detected at the Terehova and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points, for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit, exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa). The persons were subjected to administrative liability.
- exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to 1 citizen of Latvia
at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point, one citizen of Latvia (female) departing for Great Britain, who was prohibited from leaving the country, was detected. The person was banned from leaving the country.
While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for two citizens of Estonia.
Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 20 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia four citizens of Russia, three – of Moldova, two – of Latvia, two - of Belarus, two – of Serbia, two – of Ukraine, one – of Lithuania, one – of Kazakhstan, one – of Kyrgyzstan, one - of Uzbekistan and one – of Sweden.
