On Thursday, April 25, 15 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 1412 persons have been stopped this year.

Due to humanitarian reasons, no one person was not banned from crossing the state border during the past 24 hours; a total 8 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.

Officials of the State Border Guard detected 48 offenders at external borders and within the country. 

21 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 11 foreigners

at the Terehova, the Grebņeva, and the Pāternieki Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Kazakhstan, one – of Uzbekistan and one – of Russia, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit; to two citizens of Moldova as the foreigner was not in possession of valid travel document; to two citizens of Moldova, as the foreigners could not justify the purpose and conditions of their entry and stay; to one citizen of Moldova, as the foreigner was banned from entry into the territory of the Schengen States; as well as entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Russia and two – of Moldova due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 4 foreigners

three citizens of Moldova and one – of Tajikistan were detected at the Grebņeva and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points, for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (not in possession of valid visa or residence permit, exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa). Record-keeping regarding the administrative violation, committed by the citizen of Tajikistan was not initiated, the other persons were subjected to administrative liability.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 10 persons – two citizens of Russia, two – of India, one – of Latvia, one – of Belarus, one - of Estonia, one – of Lithuania, one – of Poland and one – of Ukraine.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 17 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – six citizens of Belarus, three – of Kirgizstan, two – of Latvia, one – of Russia, one – of Estonia, one – of Moldova, one – of Poland, one – of Serbia and one – of Taiwan.
