On Tuesday, April 22, 66 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 1560 persons have been stopped this year.
A total 8 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.
Officials of the State Border Guard detected 33 offenders at external borders and within the country. 17 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:
- 2 foreigners with forged documents were detected
during passenger profiling at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point, one Guinean citizen departing for France, who presented to border guards a forged French residence permit, as well as a Belarusian citizen departing for Spain, who presented to border guards a forged Spanish passport and a Spanish identification card, were detected. Criminal proceedings were initiated for the use of forged documents.
- entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 4 foreigners
at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of USA, as the foreigner was not in possession of valid travel document; to one citizen of Ukraine, as the foreigner has already stayed for 90 days in the territory of the Schengen area countries in the preceding 180 days. While at the Grebņeva Border Control Point entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Russia, as the foreigner was not in possession of valid visa or residence permit; and at the Terehova Border Control Point entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Ukraine due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.
- conditions of residence were violated by 3 foreigners
two citizens of Russia and one – of South Africa were detected at the Grebņeva Border Control Point, for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (were not in possession of valid visas or residence permits). The persons were subjected to administrative liability.
While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for one citizen of Uzbekistan.
Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 15 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – three citizens of Russia, three – of Moldova, two – of Latvia, one - of Belarus, one – of Lithuania, one – of Azerbaijan, one – of Kyrgyzstan, one – of Romania, one – of Ukraine and one – of Germany.
