On Sunday, April 21, 53 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 1335 persons have been stopped this year. 

Due to humanitarian reasons, 1 person was not banned from crossing the state border during the past 24 hours; a total 8 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.

Officials of the State Border Guard detected 52 offenders at external borders and within the country.  
31 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:
•    entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 18 foreigners

at the Grebņeva, the Terehova and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 10 citizens of Moldova, as the foreigners could not justify the purpose and conditions of their entry and stay; to two citizens of Ukraine and one – of Uzbekistan, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit; to one citizen of Moldova, as the foreigner was not in possession of valid travel document; as well as to two citizens of Russia and two – of Ukraine due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.
•    conditions of residence were violated by 3 foreigners

one citizen of Belarus, one – of Moldova and one – of Georgia were detected at the Pāternieki and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (not in possession of valid visa or residence permit, exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa). The persons were subjected to administrative liability.
•    exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to 1 citizen of Latvia

at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point one citizen of Latvia, departing for Turkey, who was not in possession of at least one parent's notarized authorization for the child to leave the country independently, was detected. The person was banned from leaving the country.
While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 2 persons – one citizen of Belarus and one - of Uzbekistan. 

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 19 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – 14 citizens of Belarus, two – of Latvia, one – of Lithuania, one – of Moldova and one – of Uzbekistan.
