On Saturday, April 20, 4 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 1282 persons have been stopped this year.

Due to humanitarian reasons, 0 persons were not banned from crossing the state border during the past 24 hours; a total 7 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.

Officials of the State Border Guard detected 56 offenders at external borders and within the country. 

27 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • 1 foreigner with forged documents was detected

At the Grebņeva Border Control Point, one citizen of Kazakhstan, who presented to border guards a forged Montenegrin International Vehicle Insurance Policy, was detected. The person was subjected to administrative liability. The forged document was seized.

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 13 foreigners

at the Grebņeva, the Terehova and the Pāternieki Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to two citizens of Russia, one – of Belarus and one – of Kazakhstan, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit; to one citizen of Moldova as the foreigner was not in possession of valid travel document; to four citizens of Moldova, as the foreigners could not justify the purpose and conditions of their entry and stay; as well as entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Ukraine, one - of Russia, one – of Belarus and one – of Moldova due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 5 foreigners

four citizens of Moldova and one - of Kirgizstan were detected at the Grebņeva and the Terehova Border Control Points for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (were not in possession of valid visas or residence permits, exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa). The persons were subjected to administrative liability.

  • exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to 2 citizens of Latvia

at the Pāternieki Border Control Point one citizen (female) of Latvia, who was not in possession of valid travel document, and at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point one citizen of Latvia, leaving the country without valid for travelling to Great Britain documents, were detected. The persons were banned from leaving the country.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 8 persons – five citizens of Lithuania, one – of Russia, one – of Ukraine and one - of Uzbekistan.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 21 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – eight citizens of Belarus, four – of Moldova, two – of Estonia, two – of Lithuania, two – of Uzbekistan, one - of Latvia, one – of Kirgizstan and one – of China.
