Sunday, April 19, 52 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 1473 persons have been stopped this year.
Officials of the State Border Guard detected 20 offenders at external borders and within the country. 8 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:
- entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 3 foreigners
at the Grebņeva Border Control Point, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Belarus, as the foreigner could not justify the purpose and conditions of entry and stay; while at the Terehova Border Control Point, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Russia and one – of Kazakhstan due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.
- conditions of residence were violated by 3 foreigners
three citizens of Kyrgyzstan were detected at the Pāternieki and the Grebņeva Border Control Points for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa, were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit). The persons were subjected to administrative liability.
- exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to 1 citizen of Latvia
at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point, one citizen of Latvia departing for Egypt with an active prohibition on leaving the country, was detected. The person was banned from leaving the country.
While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 2 persons – one citizen of Lithuania and one – of Georgia.
Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 10 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – two citizens of Russia, one – of Latvia, one - of Belarus, one – of Estonia, one – of Kyrgyzstan, one - of Moldova, one – of Romania, one – of Serbia and one – of Germany.
