On Saturday, April 19, 57 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 1363 persons have been stopped this year. 

A total 8 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.

Officials of the State Border Guard detected 39 offenders at external borders and within the country. 15 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 3 foreigners

at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Moldova, as the foreigner could not justify the purpose and conditions of his entry and stay. While at the Terehova and Grebņeva Border Control Points entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to two citizens of Moldova due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 10 foreigners

six citizens of Russia, two – of Tajikistan, one – of Uzbekistan and one – of Israel were detected at the Terehova, the Grebņeva, the Pāternieki and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points, for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (were not in possession of valid visas or residence permits, exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa). The persons were subjected to administrative liability.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 7 persons – two citizens of Ukraine, one – of Russia, one – of Belarus, one – of Estonia, one - of Moldova and one – of Lithuania.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 17 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – four citizens of Serbia, two – of Latvia, two – of Russia, one - of Belarus, one – of Estonia, one – of Lithuania, one – of Armenia, one – of Kyrgyzstan, one – of Poland, one – of Romania, one – of Ukraine and one – of Uzbekistan.
