On Friday, April 18, 90 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 1306 persons have been stopped this year.
A total 8 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.
Officials of the State Border Guard detected 58 offenders at external borders and within the country. 19 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:
- 1 foreigner with forged documents was detected
At the Pāternieki Border Control Point, one citizen of Uzbekistan leaving Latvia with heavy good vehicle and trailer, who presented to border guards a forged Uzbekistan Roadworthiness Certificate for trailer, was detected. The person was held administratively liable. The Roadworthiness Certificate was seized.
- entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 7 foreigners
at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Uzbekistan, as the foreigner could not justify the purpose and conditions of his entry and stay. While at the Terehova and Grebņeva Border Control Points entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to three citizens of Moldova and three – of Russia due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.
- conditions of residence were violated by 6 foreigners
two citizens of South Africa, one – of Russia, one – of Kazakhstan, one – of Great Britain and one – of China were detected at the „Riga” Airport, the Grebņeva and the Pāternieki Border Control Points, for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (were not in possession of valid visas or residence permits, exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa, exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa-free regime). Record-keeping regarding the administrative violation committed by the citizens of South Africa, China and Great Britain was not initiated, the other persons were subjected to administrative liability.
- exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to 2 citizens of Latvia
at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point, one minor citizen of Latvia (female) leaving Latvia for Uzbekistan, who was not in possession of a notarized power of attorney from the other parent (a citizen of the European Union, a country of the European Economic Area, Switzerland or the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland) for the child to leave the country, as well as one citizen of Latvia (female) leaving Latvia for Great Britain, who was not in possession of valid travel document, were detected. The persons were banned from leaving the country.
While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 11 persons – six citizens of Lithuania, three - of Estonia, one – of Ukraine and one – of Russia.
Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 28 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – seven citizens of Moldova, four – of Serbia, three – of Russia, three – of Germany, two - of Belarus, two – of Estonia, two – of Lithuania, two – of Ukraine, one – of Latvia, one – of Azerbaijan and one – of Uzbekistan.
