On Thursday, April 18, 2 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 1259 persons have been stopped this year.

Due to humanitarian reasons, 0 persons were not banned from crossing the state border during the past 24 hours; a total 7 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.

Officials of the State Border Guard detected 40 offenders at external borders and within the country. 

13 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • 2 foreigners with forged documents were detected

At the Grebņeva Border Control Point, one citizen of Kyrgyzstan leaving Latvia, who presented to border guards a forged Kyrgyzstan vehicle roadworthiness certificate, was detected. While at the Pāternieki Border Control Point, one citizen of Uzbekistan leaving Latvia, who presented to border guards a forged Uzbekistan driving licence, was detected. The citizen of Kyrgyzstan was subjected to administrative liability. Criminal proceedings were initiated against the citizen of Uzbekistan for using forged documents. Both forged documents were seized.

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 3 foreigners

at the Terehova Border Control Point, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Kazakhstan, as the foreigner was not in possession of valid visa or residence permit; as well as to two citizens of Moldova due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 2 foreigners

one citizen of Belarus and one - of Uzbekistan were detected at the Pāternieki and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (were not in possession of valid visas or residence permits, exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa). The persons were subjected to administrative liability.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 5 persons -  three citizens of Russia, one – of Estonia and one – of Azerbaijan.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 22 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – six citizens of Belarus, four – of Uzbekistan, three - of Moldova, three – of Latvia, one - of Lithuania, one – of Bulgaria, one – of Georgia, one – of Kazakhstan, one – of Kyrgyzstan and one – of Serbia.
