Friday, April 17, 87 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 1287 persons have been stopped this year.

Officials of the State Border Guard detected 48 offenders at external borders and within the country. 26 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • 1 wanted person was detained

at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point one citizen of Latvia entered from Great Britain, who is wanted by the Police, was detected. The person was detained and handed over to officials of the State Police.

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 10 foreigners

at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to three citizens of Uzbekistan, one – of Russia and one – of Pakistan, as the foreigners could not justify the purpose and conditions of entry and stay; while at the Terehova, the Grebņeva Border Control Points and the Port of Liepaja, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to two citizens of Moldova, two – of Russia and one – of Russia citizens due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 1 foreigner

one citizen of India was detected at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa). Record-keeping regarding the administrative violation committed by the citizen of India was not initiated.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 11 persons – two citizens of Lithuania, two – of Japan, one - of Latvia, one – of Belarus, one – of Brazil, one – of Pakistan, one – of Tajikistan, one – of Tunis and one – of Ukraine.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 11 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – four citizens of Russia, two – of Kazakhstan, two – of Uzbekistan, one - of Latvia, one - of Belarus and one – of Georgia.
