On Thursday, April 17, 73 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 1216 persons have been stopped this year.
A total 8 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.
Officials of the State Border Guard detected 46 offenders at external borders and within the country. 18 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:
- 1 foreigner with forged documents was detected
At the Pāternieki Border Control Point, one citizen of Uzbekistan leaving Latvia, who presented to border guards a forged Uzbekistan Roadworthiness Certificate, was detected. The person was held administratively liable. The Roadworthiness Certificate was seized.
- entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 6 foreigners
at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Tajikistan and one – of Taiwan, as the foreigners could not justify the purpose and conditions of their entry and stay; to one citizen of Great Britain, as the foreigner has already stayed for 90 days in the territory of the Schengen area countries in the preceding 180 days; to one citizen of Uzbekistan, as the foreigner was not in possession of valid visa or residence permit. While at the Terehova Border Control Point and the Port of Liepaja entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Moldova and one – of Russia (a seafarer) due to security reasons.
Regarding the seafarer, a letter of guarantee was taken from the ship’s captain that the foreigner will not go ashore while the ship is in port, the other persons were returned to the countries of departure.
- conditions of residence were violated by 4 foreigners
three citizens of Uzbekistan and one – of Kazakhstan were detected at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point, for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa). The persons were subjected to administrative liability.
- exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to 1 citizen of Latvia
at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point, one minor citizen of Latvia (female) departing for Israel, who was not in possession of notarized consent of at least one parent for the child to leave the country independently, was detected. The person was banned from leaving the country.
While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 6 persons – two citizens of Estonia, two – of Ukraine, one – of Latvia and one – of India.
Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 22 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – six citizens of Lithuania, three – of Russia, three – of Kazakhstan, three – of Serbia, two – of Belarus, two – of Romania, one - of Latvia, one – of Azerbaijan and one – of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
