Wednesday, April 15, 31 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 1097 persons have been stopped this year.

Officials of the State Border Guard detected 35 offenders at external borders and within the country. 19 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • 3 foreigners with forged documents were detected

at the Terehova Border Control Point, two citizens of Uzbekistan entering Latvia, who presented to border guards forged Uzbekistan heavy goods vehicle technical inspection certificates, as well as one citizen of Moldova with a forged vehicle driving licence were detected. Criminal proceedings were initiated against the citizen of Moldova for using forged documents, the citizens of Uzbekistan were subjected to administrative liability. The forged documents were seized.

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 10 foreigners

 

at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to three citizens of Uzbekistan, as the foreigners could not justify the purpose and conditions of entry and stay; while at the Terehova, the Grebņeva and the Pāternieki Border Control Points entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to four citizens of Moldova, two – of Belarus and one – of Ukraine due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 2 foreigners

one citizen of Uzbekistan and one – of Moldova were detected at the Terehova Border Control Point, for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa, were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit, exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa-free regime). Record-keeping regarding the administrative violation committed by the citizen of Moldova was not initiated, the citizen of Uzbekistan was subjected to administrative liability.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 4 persons – one citizen of Latvia, one -  of Turkey, one – of Ukraine and one – of Venezuela.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 12 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – three citizens of Latvia, three - of Belarus, two – of Kyrgyzstan, two – of Germany, one – of Russia and one - of Moldova.
