On Saturday, April 13, 16 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 1085 persons have been stopped this year.

Due to humanitarian reasons, 0 persons were not banned from crossing the state border during the past 24 hours; a total 7 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.

Officials of the State Border Guard detected 39 offenders at external borders and within the country. 

14 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • 6 foreigners with forged documents were detected

At the Terehova Border Control Point, five citizens of Russia entered Latvia, who presented to border guards forged Ukrainian ID Cards, were detected. While at the Grebņeva Border Control Point, one citizen of Uzbekistan, entered Latvia with lorry and trailer, who presented to border guards forged Montenegro International Vehicle Insurance policies, was detected. The forged documents were seized. The citizens of Russia were subjected to administrative liability and the persons were returned to the countries of departure.

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 3 foreigners

at the Port of Ventspils and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to three citizens of Russia (among them - two seafarers) due to security reasons. For both seafarers, a letter of guarantee was taken from the master of the ship that foreigners would not go ashore while the ship staying in the port, a third Russian citizen was returned to the country of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 1 foreigner

one citizen of Kazakhstan was detected at the Grebņeva Border Control Point for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (was not in possession of valid visa or residence permit). The person was subjected to administrative liability.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 3 persons -  two citizen of Ukraine and one – of Syria.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 22 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – 12 citizens of Belarus, three – of Lithuania, two – of Kazakhstan, two – of Uzbekistan, one – of Estonia, one – of Ukraine and one – of Germany.
