On Thursday, April 9, the State Border Guard officers prevented 108 people from illegally crossing the Latvia-Belarus state border, in total this year 720 people have been prevented from illegally crossing the state border.

In total, 41 violators were detected at the external borders and within the country out of  whom 20 were detected at the external borders.

• Entry into Latvia denied to 11 foreigners

At the Riga Airport border control point, entry into Latvia was denied to two citizens of Ukraine and Uzbekistan because the foreigners could not justify the purpose and conditions of entry and stay, one citizen of Kyrgyzstan and one citizen of Great Britain because the foreigners did not have valid travel documents, while at the Grebneva and Terehova border control points, as well as at the Ventspils port, entry into Latvia was denied to four Moldovan, one Belarusian and one Russian citizens due to security reasons. In relation to the Russian citizen, a letter of guarantee was taken from the ship's captain that the foreigner would not disembark while the ship was in port, the other persons were returned to their countries of departure.

• Violations of residence conditions were found for three foreigners

Three Russian citizens were found at the Terekhova border control point who had violated the residence conditions (no valid travel document) in the Schengen zone countries. The administrative violation case of one Russian citizen was not initiated, the remaining persons were held administratively liable.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for five persons – three Pakistanis, one Russian and one Belarusian citizen.

For violations in the field of operation of vehicles and vessels, State Border Guard officials have held 16 persons administratively liable or prevented them from crossing the border – four Belarusian, two Russian, two Tajik, one Latvian, one Estonian, one Lithuanian, one Armenian, one Moldovan, one Dutch, one Romanian and one German citizen.
