On Wednesday, April 9, State Border Guard officers prevented 2 people from illegally crossing the Latvian-Belarusian state border. In total this year 597 people have been prevented from illegally crossing the state border.
For humanitarian reasons seven people have been admitted this year.
In total, 66 violators were detected at the external borders and within the country out of whom 23 were detected at the external borders.
• Entry into Latvia denied to seven foreigners
At the Terehova, Grebņeva and Pāternieki border checkpoints, entry into Latvia was denied to two Ukrainian citizens because the foreigners did not have valid travel documents, to one Moldovan citizen because the foreigner is prohibited from entering and staying in the territory of the Schengen area, and to Belarusian and two Moldovan citizens for security reasons. The aforementioned persons have been returned to their countries of origin.
• Violations of residence conditions were found for six foreigners
Four Uzbek and two Russian citizens were found at the border control points in Pāternieki and Riga Airport, who had violated the residence conditions (no valid visa or residence permit, exceeding the specified period of stay) in Schengen area countries. The aforementioned persons were held administratively liable.
While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence rules were found for 17 persons – 14 Ukrainians, one Algerian, one Indian and one Guinean citizen.
For violations in the field of operation of vehicles and vessels, State Border Guard officials have held 26 persons administratively liable or prevented them from crossing the border – eight Belarusians, five Moldovans, four Uzbeks, three Latvians, two citizens of United Arab Emirates, one Estonian, one Lithuanian, one Romanian and one Serbian citizen.
