On Wednesday, April 8, the State Border Guard officers prevented 27 people from illegally crossing the Latvia-Belarus state border, in total this year 594 people have been prevented from illegally crossing the state border.

In total, 52 violators were detected at the external borders and within the country out of  whom 30 were detected at the external borders.

• Entry into Latvia denied to four foreigners

At the Riga Airport border control point, two Uzbek citizens were denied entry into Latvia because the foreigners could not justify the purpose and conditions of entry and stay, while at the Grebņeva and Terehova border control points, one Ukrainian and one Romanian citizen were denied entry into Latvia due to security reasons. The persons have been returned to their countries of departure.

• Violations of residence conditions were found for 16 foreigners

At the Terehova, Pāternieki and Riga Airport border control points, 14 Russian, one Belarusian and one Georgian citizens were found to have violated the residence conditions (no valid travel document, exceeding the period of stay specified in the visa, exceeding the period of stay specified in the visa-free regime) in the Schengen area countries. The administrative proceedings in the case of one Russian citizen were not initiated, the other persons were held administratively liable.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for one citizen of Uzbekistan.

For violations in the field of operation of vehicles and vessels, State Border Guard officials have held 21 persons administratively liable or prevented them from crossing the border – three citizens of Belarus, three of Latvia, two of Russia, two of Moldova, two of Serbia, one of Estonia, one of Lithuania, one of Bulgaria, one of France, one of South Korea, one of Tajikistan, one of Ukraine, one of Uzbekistan and one of Germany.
