On Tuesday, April 8, State Border Guard officers prevented 38 people from illegally crossing the Latvian-Belarusian state border. In total this year 595 people have been prevented from illegally crossing the state border.

For humanitarian reasons seven people have been admitted this year.

In total, 36 violators were detected at the external borders and within the country, out of whom 13 were detected at the external borders.

• One person with forged documents was detected

A Latvian citizen traveling to Sweden by ferry was detected at the Ventspils port, who presented a forged Polish driver's license. Criminal proceedings have been initiated for the use of a forged document. The forged document was seized as part of the criminal proceedings

• Five foreigners denied entry into Latvia

At the Terehova, Grebņeva and Pāternieki border checkpoints, one citizen of Uzbekistan and one citizen of Belarus were denied entry into Latvia because the foreigners did not have a valid visa or residence permit, one citizen of Russia because the foreigner did not have a valid travel document, and another citizen of Russia and one citizen of Belarus due to security reasons. The persons were returned to their countries of departure.

• Violations of the conditions of residence were detected for one foreigner

At the Pāternieki border checkpoint, one citizen of Belarus was detected who had violated the conditions of residence (did not have a valid travel document) in the Schengen zone countries. The person was held administratively liable.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence regulations were detected for four persons – one Belarusian, one Indian, one Uzbek and one Lithuanian citizen.

For violations in the field of operation of vehicles and vessels, State Border Guard officials have held 19 persons administratively liable or prevented them from crossing the border – four Russian, three Moldovan, three Lithuanian, two Belarusian, two Kazakh, two Romanian, one Latvian, one Estonian and one Serbian citizen.
