On Tuesday, April 7, the State Border Guard officers prevented 18 people from illegally crossing the Latvia-Belarus state border, in total this year 585 people have been prevented from illegally crossing the state border.

In total, 23 violators were detected at the external borders and within the country out of  whom 11 were detected at the external borders.

• One foreigner with forged documents detected

At the Riga Airport border control point, during profiling in the Schengen terminal, an Indian citizen was detected who presented a forged Indian passport to the border guards. Criminal proceedings have been initiated for the use of forged documents. The forged document has been seized.

• Two foreigners denied entry into Latvia

At the Terekhova and Riga Airport border control points, one Ukrainian citizen was denied entry into Latvia because the person has a valid ban on entering and staying in the territory of the Schengen member states, while one German citizen was denied entry into the country for security reasons. The persons were returned to their countries of origin.

• Violations of residence conditions were detected for four foreigners

Two Moldovan, one Kyrgyz and one Uzbek citizen were detected at the border control points in Terekhovo and Riga Airport, who had violated the residence conditions (no valid visa or residence permit, exceeding the period of stay specified in the visa). No administrative proceedings were initiated in the case of the Kyrgyz citizen's administrative violation, while the other foreigners were held administratively liable.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for two persons – one Estonian and one Kyrgyz citizen.

For violations in the field of operation of vehicles and vessels, State Border Guard officials have held 10 persons administratively liable or prevented them from crossing the border – two Latvian, two Belarusian, two Kazakh and one Russian, Lithuanian, Romanian and Serbian citizens – administratively liable or have prevented them from crossing the border.
