On Monday, April 7, State Border Guard officers prevented 52 people from illegally crossing the Latvian-Belarusian state border. In total 557 people have been prevented from illegally crossing the state border this year.

For humanitarian reasons seven people have been admitted this year.

In total, 54 violators were detected at the external borders and within the country, out of whom 30 were detected at the external borders.

• Four persons were detected having forged documents

Three Uzbek citizens were detected at the Pāternieki border control point, one of whom presented forged international vehicle insurance policies to the border guards, while the other two Uzbek citizens presented forged technical inspection certificates. The persons have been held administratively liable. The forged documents were seized as part of administrative proceedings.

A Lithuanian citizen entering Latvia was detected at the Terehova border control point, who presented a forged Lithuanian driver's license. Criminal proceedings have been initiated for the use of a forged document.

• Eight foreigners denied entry into Latvia

At the border checkpoints in Terekhova, Pāternieki and Riga Airport, entry to Latvia was denied to one citizen of Kazakhstan and one Russian because the foreigners did not have a valid visa or residence permit, to one citizen of Ukraine because the foreigner had already used the visa-free period of residence in the Schengen area, to one citizen of Tajikistan and one citizen of Uzbekistan because the foreigners could not justify the purpose and conditions of entry and residence, and to one Russian, one Belarusian and one Ukrainian citizen for security reasons. The persons were returned to their countries of departure.

• Violations of residence conditions were found for five foreigners

Two Moldovan, two Uzbek and one Turkish citizens were found at the border control point of the Riga Airport, who had violated the residence conditions (no valid visa or residence permit, exceeding the visa-free regime or the period of residence specified in the visa) in the Schengen area countries. The persons have been held administratively liable.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence rules were found for five persons – three Estonian and two Uzbek citizens.

For violations in the field of operation of vehicles and vessels, State Border Guard officials have held 19 persons – five Belarusian, five Serbian, two Kyrgyz, two Moldovan, one Russian, one Montenegrin, one Hungarian, one Uzbek and one German citizen – administratively liable or have prevented them from crossing the border.
