On Monday, April 6, the State Border Guard officers prevented 48 people from illegally crossing the Latvia-Belarus state border, in total this year 567 people have been prevented from illegally crossing the state border.

In total, 36 violators were detected at the external borders and within the country out of  whom 18 were detected at the external borders.

• Two wanted citizens detained

During immigration control at the Riga Airport border control point and inside the country, two citizens wanted by the police were detected – one Kyrgyz and one Latvian citizen. The persons were detained and handed over to State Police officers.

• Five foreigners denied entry into Latvia

At the Grebņeva and Pāternieki border checkpoints, one citizen of Kazakhstan was denied entry into Latvia because the foreigner could not justify the purpose and circumstances of entry, while one citizen of Uzbekistan, one of Moldova, one of Kazakhstan and one of Ukraine was denied entry into the country for security reasons. The persons were returned to their countries of departure.

• Violations of residence conditions were found for four foreigners

At the Riga Airport border checkpoint, three citizens of Uzbekistan and one citizen of Tajikistan were found to have violated the residence conditions - they did not have a valid visa or residence permit. No proceedings were initiated in the cases of one citizen of Uzbekistan and one citizen of Tajikistan, while the other citizens were held administratively liable.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence regulations were detected for four persons – two Estonian, one Russian and one Lithuanian citizen.

For violations in the field of operation of vehicles and vessels, State Border Guard officials have held 14 persons administratively liable or prevented them from crossing the border – three Moldovan, two Estonian, two Lithuanian and one of Israel, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Romania, Serbia, Uzbekistan and Germany.
