On Sunday, April 6, State Border Guard officers prevented 20 people from illegally crossing the Latvian-Belarusian state border. In total this year 505 people have been prevented from illegally crossing the state border.

For humanitarian reasons seven people have been admitted this year.

In total, 29 violators were detected at the external borders and within the country, out of whom 9 were detected at the external borders.

• Entry into Latvia was denied to three foreigners

At the Terehova and Pāternieki border checkpoints, entry into Latvia was denied to one Moldovan, one Russian and one Belarusian citizen for security reasons. The aforementioned persons were returned to their countries of departure.

• Violations of residence conditions were detected for two foreigners

At the Grebņeva border checkpoint, one Uzbek and one Moldovan citizen were detected who had violated the residence conditions (did not have a valid visa or residence permit) in the Schengen zone countries. Persons held administratively liable.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence regulations were detected for one Russian citizen.

For violations in the field of operation of vehicles and vessels, State Border Guard officials have held 19 persons administratively liable or prevented them from crossing the border – five Russian, four Belarusian, two Kazakh, two Serbian, two Ukrainian, one Latvian, one Moldovan, one Romanian and one Uzbek citizen.
