On Saturday, April 5, State Border Guard officers prevented 9 people from illegally crossing the Latvian-Belarusian state border. In total this year 485 people have been prevented from illegally crossing the state border.
For humanitarian reasons seven people have been admitted this year.
In total, 49 violators were detected at the external borders and within the country, out of whom 21 were detected at the external borders.
• One wanted person has been detained
One Latvian citizen who was leaving for Sweden by ferry was detected in the port of Ventspils and is being sought by the police. The man was detained and handed over to State Police officers.
• Nine foreigners denied entry into Latvia
At the border checkpoints in Pāternieki, Terehova and Riga Airport, one Moldovan citizen was denied entry to Latvia because the foreigner was banned from entering and staying in Schengen area countries, one Moldovan citizen because the foreigner did not have a valid travel document, one Russian citizen because the foreigner did not have a valid visa or residence permit, one Ukrainian citizen because the foreigner had already used the visa-free period of stay, two Moldovan citizens because the foreigners could not justify the purpose and circumstances of their entry, and three more Russian citizens for security reasons. The aforementioned persons were returned to their countries of origin.
• Violations of residence conditions were detected for four foreigners
Two Belarusian, one Kazakh and one Moldovan citizens were detected at the border control points of Terekhova, Pāternieki and Riga Airport, who had violated the residence conditions (no valid visa or residence permit, exceeding the visa-free regime or the period of stay specified in the visa) in the Schengen zone countries. The persons have been held administratively liable.
While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence rules were detected for six persons – three Estonian, two Lithuanian and one Belarusian citizen.
For violations in the field of operation of vehicles and vessels, State Border Guard officials have held 22 persons administratively liable or prevented them from crossing the border – four Russian, four Moldovan, three Estonian, two Latvian, two Belarusian, two Lithuanian, two Kazakh, one Romanian, one Serbian and one Uzbek citizens.
