On Thursday, June 4, the State Border Guard officers prevented 106 people from illegally crossing the Latvia-Belarus state border, in total this year 4854 people have been prevented from illegally crossing the state border.
38 violators were detected at the external borders and within the country. 31 border violators were detected at the external borders.
• Two foreigners with forged or foreign documents detected
During passenger profiling, one Bangladeshi citizen was detected at the Riga Airport border control point, who presented a forged Belgian citizen identification card to the border guards, while one Somali citizen was detected at the Ventspils Port, who presented a foreign Swedish citizen identification card to the border guards. Criminal proceedings have been initiated for the use of forged documents and concealing his identity.
• One Latvian citizen who is wanted has been detained
One Latvian citizen who is wanted by the police and is travelling to the UK has been detected at the Riga Airport border control point. The person has been detained and handed over to State Police officials.
• Entry into Latvia denied to nine foreigners
At the border control points of Terekhova, Grebneva and Riga Airport, entry into Latvia was denied to one Ukrainian citizen because the foreigner could not justify the purpose and conditions of entry and residence, to one Georgian citizen because the foreigner had already resided in the territory of the Schengen area for 90 days in the previous 180 days, and entry into Latvia was denied to two Belarusian, two Russian, two Ukrainian and one Moldovan citizens due to security reasons. The persons have been returned to their countries of departure.
• Violations of residence conditions were found for eight foreigners
At the border control point of Riga Airport, three Russian, one Serbian, one Indian, one British, one Uzbek and one Vietnamese citizens were found to have violated the residence conditions (no valid visa or residence permit, exceeding the period of residence specified in the visa, no valid travel document) in the Schengen area countries. The administrative violation case of two Russian, one Indian and one Vietnamese citizens was not initiated, the remaining persons were held administratively liable.
While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence regulations were detected for three persons – two Russian and one Pakistani citizens.
For violations in the field of operation of vehicles and vessels, State Border Guard officials have held 17 persons – seven Belarusian, three Moldovan, two Latvian, one Estonian, one Romanian, one Serbian, one Hungarian and one Chinese citizens – administratively liable or prevented them from crossing the border.
