On Wednesday, June 3, the State Border Guard officers prevented 171 people from illegally crossing the Latvia-Belarus state border, in total this year 4748 people have been prevented from illegally crossing the state border.
38 violators were detected at the external borders and within the country. 18 border violators were detected at the external borders.
• Four foreigners with forged documents detected
During passenger profiling, one Somali citizen was detected at the border control point of Riga Airport, who presented a forged, foreign Dutch citizen identification card to the border guards, one Somali and one Ethiopian citizen who presented a forged, foreign French residence permit to the border guards, as well as one Bangladeshi citizen who presented a forged, foreign Pakistani citizen passport to the border guards. Criminal proceedings have been initiated for the use of forged documents and concealment of one's identity.
• Two wanted persons detained
One Latvian citizen leaving for Great Britain and one non-Latvian citizen entering from Germany were detected at the border control point of Riga Airport, who are wanted by the police. The persons were detained and handed over to State Police officials.
• Entry into Latvia denied to nine foreigners
At the Riga border control point, one Azerbaijani citizen was denied entry into Latvia because the foreigner could not justify the purpose and conditions of entry and residence, while at the Terekhova border control point, two German, one Italian, one Moldovan, one Israeli, one Russian, one Lithuanian and one Belarusian citizens were denied entry into Latvia due to security reasons. The persons were returned to their countries of departure.
• Violations of residence conditions were detected for one foreigner
At the Riga airport border control point, one Kyrgyz citizen was detected who had violated the residence conditions (no valid visa or residence permit) in the Schengen area countries. The person was held administratively liable.
While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence rules were detected for three persons – two Russian and one Pakistani citizen.
State Border Guard officials have held 17 individuals administratively liable or prevented them from crossing the border for violations in the field of vehicle and vessel operation – seven Belarusian, three Moldovan, two Latvian, one Estonian, one Romanian, one Serbian, one Hungarian and one Chinese citizens.
