On Friday, April 3, the State Border Guard officers prevented 29 people from illegally crossing the Latvia-Belarus state border, in total this year 409 people have been prevented from illegally crossing the state border.

In total, 33 violators were detected at the external borders and within the country out of  whom 12 were detected at the external borders.

• One foreigner with forged documents detected

A Somali citizen was detected at the border control point of the Riga Airport Schengen terminal, who, when leaving for Amsterdam, presented a forged Latvian foreigner's identity card during the border check. Criminal proceedings have been initiated for the use of forged documents.

• Seven foreigners denied entry into Latvia

At the border control points of Grebņeva, Terehova and Riga Airport, one Russian and one British citizen were denied entry into Latvia because the foreigners did not have a valid travel document, while three Russian, one Romanian and one Moldovan citizens were denied entry into Latvia for security reasons. The persons were returned to their countries of departure.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence regulations were detected for four persons - three Estonian and one Russian citizen.

For violations in the field of operation of vehicles and vessels, State Border Guard officials have held 17 persons administratively liable or prevented them from crossing the border – four Belarusian, four Latvian, three Moldovan, two Russian, two Lithuanian, one Polish and one Uzbek citizens.
